WHAT IS ROCK 'N' READ?

Rock 'N' Read is a nonprofit program operated in collaboration with Neighborhood Alliance. Our program has historically donated rocking chairs and book baskets to clients of Mercy Health Resource Mothers Program that are most in need. With our new partnership with Neighborhood Alliance, we look forward to making a greater impact in the community.

Since its founding in 2017, more than 180 handcrafted rocking chairs and nearly 3,000 books have been donated.

Neighborhood Alliance has been compassionately caring for the community since 1927 by caring for our clients' critical needs. They provide emergency shelter, homeless outreach, daily meal delivery, nutrition services, socialization activities for seniors, childcare and child enrichment, and access to family support programs such as Help Me Grow and Early Intervention.

Please visit their website for more information on the many ways they are positively impacting lives throughout Lorain County.

OUR MISSION

The mission of Rock 'N' Read is to provide new and expectant mothers with rocking chairs and quality children's books. Recipients can use these resources to develop a special bond with their infants and nurture an early love for reading.

OUR RECIPIENTS:

Mercy Resource Mothers Program serves women and their babies who are most vulnerable in the community by offering resources and support during the prenatal period through age one. This home visiting program is staffed by certified Community Health Workers who come from the community in which they serve, acting as mentors, advocates, and teachers.

Please visit their website for more information on how they are providing tools to equip and empower mothers in the community.
