The mission of Rock 'N' Read is to provide new and expectant mothers in the Lorain community with rocking chairs and quality children's books. Recipients can use these resources to develop a special bond with their infants and nurture an early love for reading.
Rock 'N' Read is a nonprofit program operated in collaboration with The Boys and Girls Clubs of Lorain County. Rocking chair and book basket recipients are clients of Mercy Health Resource Mothers Program that are most in need. Since its founding in 2017, 100 handcrafted rocking chairs and 100 baskets of books have been donated. Funds have also been donated to BGC to create a room dedicated to literacy tutoring and quiet reading at the Desich Family campus in Lorain.
The BGC is a nonprofit organization that serves the youth in the community. Various programs are offered at 14 locations to ensure children ages 6-18 have a safe environment in which to grow and develop to their fullest potential.

Mercy Resource Mothers Program serves women and their babies who are most vulnerable in the community by offering resources and support during the prenatal period through age one. This home visiting program is staffed by certified Community Health Workers who come from the community in which they serve, acting as mentors, advocates, and teachers.
